Perfect Paint

16 10 2008

It’s been a really good day today! I kept my son off school just to make sure he was recovered, and the two of us had such a nice time together! We watched a bit of TV together snuggled up on the sofa when his sister had gone to school, then packed up some of the toys and books from his bedroom to take over to the new house along with some shelves and toyboxes, then I took him paint shopping!

His bedroom in the new house is currently lilac and he has been very particular about the shade of “cyan” that he wants for the walls! It is part of the Aspergers syndrome about how specific he can be about certain things. I don’t ever “panda” to him when he makes certain demands, but if the shade of paint on his walls was that important to him to make him feel at home in the new house … then so be it!

We traipsed around a couple of paint shops and couldn’t find the right shade. He wants CYAN which is like a tropical ocean turquoise colour … NOT blue and NOT teal and NOT green! I took him to a DIY superstore, let him look at all the paint colour chip cards and then we got them to mix exactly what he wanted for us!! I totally let him make all of the decisions and he thrived on it! It was really exciting watching it get mixed then go in the shaker machine!! LOL It’s turned out to be the absolutely perfect colour though and he’s chuffed to bits!! I’ll get it painted over the next few days. My daughter’s room is going to be lilac – got the paint for that already! I have a LOT to do!!
